The OCA Annual Dinner held on Friday 20th November at Simpsons in the Strand in London was another roaring success with over one hundred OC’s in attendance.
Guest of Honour of was Philip Thompson, our retiring Chairman after 12 years at the helm. We were also joined by our esteemed guests, Viv McCormack and husband John, Paul Sorenson and partner Belinda, the new deputy head of the school Mandy Smart, and the senior four of Jasper Piper, Mehalah Spencer, James Lloyd and Ellen Pickett as the newest and very welcome guests. Philip made a typically humble speech, under-playing all his efforts and achievements as OC Chairman which was responded to, on behalf of the committee, by his eldest son James who was able to embellish and put the record straight about all his father’s fantastic work and outstanding connections he has developed with the school as Chairman of the OCA. Philip will remain on the OCA committee as Treasurer and we wish Rob Hillier, the new Chairman all the very best in his new role. He has big shoes to fill.
Big groups of OC’s from the many year groups from 1960’s to the 2011’s filled the room. Special thanks to Ben Steel (2011), Louise McArragher (1995), James Thompson (1991), Claire Emerton (1992) and Jeremy Barham (1960) for their continued support in getting big groups of OC’s together. As the evening drew to a close, the volume of banter grew as fond memories of times and more importantly friends, were recounted.
Next year’s OCA dinner will be on Friday 18th November 2015 at Simpsons-in-the-Strand again.
